The Praxis Series® tests are taken by individuals entering the teaching profession and measure teacher candidates’ knowledge and skills. The tests are used for licensing and certification processes and include:
- Praxis® Core Academic Skills for Educators (Core)
These tests measure academic skills in reading, writing and mathematics. They were designed to provide comprehensive assessments that measure the skills and content knowledge of candidates entering teacher preparation programs.
- Praxis® Subject Assessments (formerly the Praxis II® tests)
These tests measure subject-specific content knowledge, as well as general and subject-specific teaching skills, that you need for beginning teaching.

College Level Examination Program (CLEP) Testing is offered on an as requested basis. Please call WPWA to schedule a test after registering with The College Board through their website.
General Education Diploma (GED®) and High School Equivalency Test (HiSET®) Testing
The Pennsylvania Department of Education offers two different testing options for individuals seeking certification for secondary education completion requirements.
The GED® test is a computer based test consisting of four modules:
- Reading Language Arts
- Social Studies
Each module costs $30.00 for a total of $120 for the entire bundle. GED® testing is offered every Monday at our office in Hawley. For scheduling and other GED® test resources please visit www.ged.com*.

The HiSET® test is a paper based test consisting of five modules:
- Language Arts – Reading
- Language Arts – Writing
- Social Studies
Each module costs $18.00 for a total of $90 for the entire bundle. HiSET® testing is offered once a month in our Hawley office. For scheduling and other HiSET® test resources please visit http://hiset.ets.org/test_takers.
Changes to Transcript and Diploma Procedures for HiSET® & GED® Certifications
In an effort to enhance services for individuals who receive the Commonwealth Secondary School Diploma, the Pennsylvania Department of Education is transferring all of its diploma and transcript processing services to DiplomaSender. Effective October, 1, 2016, all Pennsylvania high school equivalency diplomas and transcripts for the GED test, HiSET exam, as well as those awarded through the 30 College Credit Option, will be handled by DiplomaSender.
