Praxis® 

Praxis® tests are taken by individuals entering the teaching profession and measure teacher candidates’ knowledge and skills.

College Level Examination Program® (CLEP) Testing

You could earn three or more college credits at more than 2,900 U.S. colleges and universities with a passing score on a CLEP test. CLEP was created to help individuals with prior knowledge in a college course subject earn their degree efficiently and inexpensively.

The Pennsylvania Department of Education offers two different testing options for individuals seeking certification for secondary education completion requirements.


GEd® TEST

The GED® test is a computer based test consisting of four modules:

  • Reading Language Arts

  • Mathematics

  • Science

  • Social Studies

Each module costs $30.00 for a total of $120 for the entire bundle.

THE HISET® TEST

The HiSET® test is a paper based test consisting of five modules:

  • Language Arts – Reading

  • Language Arts – Writing

  • Mathematics

  • Science

  • Social Studies

Transcript and Diploma Procedures for HiSET® & GED® Certifications

All Pennsylvania high school equivalency diplomas and transcripts for the GED test, HiSET exam,
as well as those awarded through the 30 College Credit Option are handled by DiplomaSender.
