The SHINE After-School Program
The SHINE (Schools and Homes in Education) program is a community grassroots effort to increase educational opportunities for children and families in Wayne and Pike Counties.
Having an afterschool program offering STEAM enrichment is a valuable opportunity for children to engage in hands-on learning experience. STEAM education is a multidisciplinary approach that focuses on STEAM subjects to foster creativity, problem-solving skills, and critical thinking.

The primary focus of the program is students who need a jump start in reading and math. Students are provided project based activities with an emphasis on STEM and complete 6 career projects in real-life educational experiences.
The Wayne Pike Workforce Alliance SHINE Program is a 36 week comprehensive after-school program and includes K- 5th grade centers located at Lakeside Elementary in the Wayne Highlands School District and Evergreen Elementary in the Western Wayne School District. K-8th is offered in the Wallenpaupack Area School District
Funded in full or in part with a federal USDE grant provided by the PA Department of Education the Pennsylvania Department of Education. In partnership with Lehigh Carbon Community College.
