Re-entry & Recovery to Work Program

The Wayne Pike Workforce Alliance Re-entry Program is designed to assist incarcerated individuals with a successful transition to their community after they are released. Incarcerated individuals face a myriad of challenges, including, finding housing and employment, possible recidivism, and the stigma of being an ex-offender. Offenders often feel they do not have viable, marketable job skills, or sufficient literacy to obtain gainful employment. This belief and their need to abstain from crime, substance abuse, and other problematic areas, put them at risk to offend again.

Thus, it is important to start the re-entry process while individuals are still incarcerated. Staff from the Workforce Alliance visit SCI-Waymart and the Wayne County Correctional Facility. While there, they conduct workshops to present a list of pertinent resources available to the offenders upon their release. Additionally, they discuss the importance of documenting their short-term and long-term goals, assist with the preparation of cover letters (narratives) and resumes, practice mock job interviews, and boost the low morale of the incarcerated individuals. The ultimate goal of the Workforce Alliance is to serve as the bridge
for ex-offenders from incarceration to life in the community as productive, well-adjusted citizens.

Project Progress provides recovery opportunities for growth, education and sustainable success.
