Girl Power Packs Woodloch Resort for Women in STEM Symposium
Today was the 5th annual Women in Science Symposium hosted by Lackawac Sanctuary and Workforce Alliance.
Professionals in the STEM World are inspiring future female innovators in Pike and Wayne County.
Stem technology can be found in every classroom teaching students the possibility of a successful career in the field.

There was a whole lot of girl power packed inside Woodloch Pines resort this afternoon.
“This is the best turnout I have ever seen and I am so inspired to see how it’s grown.” said organizer, Dr. Katie Leonard of Johnson college.
Close to 300 female students in the Poconos attended the 5th annual Women in Science Symposium.
WPWA Offers Extended Hours
WAYNE COUNTY—The Wayne Pike Workforce Alliance (WPWA) will extend its business hours to 6:30 p.m. on Thursdays in September, allowing an extra two hours for underemployed job seekers who work during the day to build their career skills after hours.

Teacher In The Workplace Program

Department of Labor & Industry Deputy Secretary for Workforce Development Eileen Cipriani was in Wayne County yesterday to help launch the new Teacher in the Workplace program. Cipriani, and several local educators, got a firsthand look at Moka Origins, the specialty coffee and chocolate factory on Bethany Turnpike, just north of Honesdale. The program enables teachers to visit local employers and learn about the skills and knowledge students need to succeed in the workplace. Teachers use that experience to develop lessons that teach their students the skills they need for in-demand jobs. Earlier this year, Governor Wolf announced nearly $2.6 million in Teacher in the Workplace grants supporting 59 programs in Pennsylvania.
